I know when I find myself saying, “That’ll have to do,”it’s time to take a break. I’ve been saying that for a couple of weeks, but I am literally posting this just before it goes live. That’s cutting it too close and “that’ll do” robs me of the re4ason I am doing this in the first place. I’m not a perfectionist, but I do have a vision of this story. I don’t always achieve it, but it’s not for want of trying. But when it comes down to something that can be solved by just slowing down a bit, then I have to take the opportunity. Regardless of the quality of the book, I have never looked at it as something to hack out.

I don’t exactly know how long this break will be. I’m guessing four or five weeks, long enough to catch my breath and build up some backlog. I’ll keep everyone updated. We probably have thirty or so more pages in this “issue”, and then we start the long finale. And, as I’ve said many times before, I’m as anxious to see how this all ends up as anybody.

So did you hear they affirmed the discovery of the Higgs Boson? I imagine everyone is relieved. After all, you wouldn’t want to drop $10 billion for nothing.

And one other thing: my good friend Bart Bush shared this pic on Facebook. I’ve never heard of this production. It obviously didn’t get made, but does anyone know anything else about it?

has a passing mention of it in their chronicle of various film efforts successful or less than. After clicking on the link just ctrl-f and type ‘cry’ and it’ll take you right to it, or you can page down a bit.

When handling a grand project like this, the right way is almost never the _fast_way. As long as you give a heads up on facebook when you resume updating, I’m happy as a clam!

First off, excellent story. I haven’t posted before,so felt compelled to start with some well earned praise. You definitely have been scratching my Lovecraft itch.

As for “Cry of Cthulhu” I remember reading a blurb about the movie back around 1980′ish in (I think) Starlog Magazine. This got me curious and I found the following at the Straight Dope message board. I can’t verify the accuracy, so take it for what it’s worth.

“I know this thread is very old, but in case the guy who asked the question is still around, here is exactly what happened to the film. I happened to have spoke to the man who was going to create the special effects for the movie. He had artist renderings all made up and they were ready to create miniatures and give it an “old school” treatment. This is circa late 70s. The problem is, the guys behind the movie had little experience and no contacts in the film industry. Still, they got a meeting with a studio and the lady who heard their pitch said she liked it, but they weren’t interested. A year later, IRS contacted them with a request for $500,000. Turns out, the woman greenlit the project after they left for 3 mil, took the money and created a paper trail that led to them. She’s supposed to be still in jail to this day. The creators became completely disenchanted with the whole Hollywood thing and dropped it all together.”

    Hope it helps.

There’s a section in the book “Lurker in the Lobby” that covers Cry of Cthulhu. The bulk of the film was going to be set in the Dreamlands, apparently. There was also a bit of rather interesting concept art for the film. Everyone should check it out if They get the chance.
