The Walking Dead premiered last night on AMC, and I was impressed, not only by the faithfulness to the source material but the high quality of the production. Terrific  acting   -a commodity in rare supply in zombie movies–special effects and makeup far above a series level, no campy dialogue, and a moment or two of real pathos. If you missed it, watch for the repeat. There are only six episodes planned, but this could be another winner for AMC.

This is a little late for the holiday, but I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t share the amazing carved pumpkin artwork of Ray Villafane. You can find more of his work online, but these are incredible. And unless he has some way of varnishing pumpkins for preservation, I’m not sure they aren’t on the ephemeral side.

Was positively suprised by tv-walking dead too, though their zombie reveal was a bit odd.

Speaking of which: Cthulhu has manifested in South Park
